The girls are wearing uniform which was also worn for hockey and tennis; it is thought to be an example of one of the earliest school uniforms. The photographs are thought to have been taken around 1880, when it was decided that dress would no longer be provided by the Hall. Uniformity would not be required; the pupils should simply dress neatly and with propriety. The wearing of uniform stated again in the early twentieth century.
